Of course, we don't have to use that single plugin, we can find others. Hell, when you finish all the important stuff you could code it :3

Tested WorldGuard with sponge radius of 2..
A lovely water harvester brought the server to a crawl (lag of 5 out of 20 ticks per second..)..

SpongeRestore, I was able to cause _significant_ block lag on the server by making a sponge tower at a rate of 5-10 blocks per second.

So, even if it isn't sponges. SOMETHING that will fix our world, but for that discussion there is another thread.

Isnt it possible to have a block that, when placed, deletes all the watersource blocks beneath them on that single column? Then you would only have to make a dam and build a roof of water-delete-blocks and you would have a nice dry piece of land to build on the ocean floor..

Saves time and not so laggin maybe? dunno if its possible to code this...

Zerg I think we should at least test a sponge mod of some kind or a mod that makes sponge delete water source blocks under them in a straight column or something because I can see many uses for this. Maybe even go so far as to make it Donor+ only or something like that so its a perk of Donating or sticking around a long time.

its a bit more work than just simply installing it too though. if someone places a sponge, and 'omg its grief!', then eve has to go and figure out what it looked like before the sponge was there. so sponge has to remember the state of all the blocks around the sponge in the radius of the sponge + 1 (cuz liquids flow).

Could we make a one time use sponge?

Like, it's placed down(the sponge) and after sucking up whatever amount of water, it stops and doesn't care if there is anymore water. Like this, there wouldn't be any constant checking because it does it's job once and then goes to sleep.

(not trying to put any pressure on you, the coder, to make this. Just think it could be a decent compromise.)
